G-Dragon, the leader of K-pop boy band BIGBANG who is currently serving his mandatory military duty, has returned to his military base after receiving treatment for his ankle, his agency said Saturday.

YG Entertainment said G-Dragon returned to his base in Cheorwon, 90 kilometers northeast of Seoul, on Friday after receiving treatment at the Armed Forces Hospital in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.

G-Dragon, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, came under fire following an allegation that he received special treatment from the military by being admitted into an exclusive room of the hospital instead of one of the shared rooms used by normal soldiers.

The agency earlier denied the allegation, claiming the rumor was “groundless and malicious.”

Additional info:

• Earlier, a report stated that G-Dragon was moved back to his army division in Cheorwon on June 29, without consent from himself or his legal guardians. In response to the claims, representatives from Yangju Hospital simply said, “Please inquire the Ministry of Defense for specific details.” However, the Ministry of Defense is currently unavailable for contact by the media. • Osen (press agency) confirms that he is out of the hospital. Apparently, his ankle surgery requires 2 months of rehab and physical therapy, and he has to use assistive devices to get around. The news article also says that he can’t get professional treatment at his military medical center because of lack of facilities and had to go to several military hospitals, but the fact that he is also a “top star” made things more difficult. He barely managed to get into Yangju Hospital, and the concerns the other hospitals had became reality. (Source: Naver | @oh_mes)

• YG issued an initial statement: “We are currently contacting G-Dragon’s family to confirm the validity of the reports regarding him being discharged from the hospital. As G-Dragon is currently a soldier in the army, we as his agency are unable to know the specific details of his status.” (Source: Naver | @soompi)

• YG’s follow-up statement: “We have heard from his family that G-Dragon has indeed been discharged and moved to the Cheorwon army division.” *They didn’t include any info on G-Dragon’s current health condition. (Source: Naver | @soompi)
