Yongsan Craft Museum opens in Seoul’s Hannam-dong

The Yongsan Craft Museum, where visitors can try traditional costumes including hanbok and make crafts, has recently opened in Hannam-dong, Yongsan in Seoul. The building is located where the Yongsan Women’s Cultural Hall once stood, covering 2,800 square meters, with three stories below and four above the ground.

The craft shop is located on the first floor. Visitors can browse through some 1,400 pieces of craftwork made by artisans across the country. Visitors, foreign and local alike, can experience traditional Korean culture on the second floor, trying on hanbok and making pottery.

Craft lessons are held on the third floor, where locals can sign up for classes, such as Korean paper art, making hanbok and quilts out of naturally dyed fabric, bojagi (traditional wrapping cloth) and needle holders and other ornaments. The fourth floor has a multipurpose room where performances are held. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
