YG Disappointed in KBS Review Standards for G-Dragon

YG Entertainment‘s CEO Yang Hyun Suk expressed disappointment in KBS’s review boards decision to censor G-Dragon’s songs “Light It Up” and “That XX.” He stated, “Due to KBS’s review standards, G-Dragon could not perform ‘Light It Up’ and ‘That XX’ on ‘Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook‘ as he had planned originally. G-Dragon is also very disappointed.”

G-Dragon originally planned to perform “Crayon,” “Light It Up,” and “That XX.” He changed problematic lyrics and applied for confirmation to KBS, but the songs were not approved until the day before filming. In the end, he replaced “Light It Up” and “That XX” with “One of A Kind” and “Missing You.”

Yang Hyun Suk added, “The review standards are very particular. G-Dragon did a lot to perform these songs for his fans. We are sorry that he didn’t get to do it.” Meanwhile, “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” had an unprecedentedly high competition rate of 75:1 in admission ticket application, proving G-Dragon’s extreme popularity.

G-Dragon performed “Missing You” with 2NE1‘s Minzy. Minzy reinterpreted Kim Yoon Ah‘s part in the original version of the song, presenting a new and refreshing stage. Furthermore, G-Dragon added live band music to “Crayon” and brought the house down with “One of A Kind” and its heavy hip hop sound.

“Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook” featuring G-Dragon will be airing on October 19.

      oh guess it's not that bad... but shame on KBS... someone already commented here i think that this show only allows 19+ attending and aired during the night when most children should be asleep......also, GD modified the lyrics so i don't c y KBS didn't respond to it in a positive outlet since other artists performed on the same show that was rated 19+......

      I don't understand why is this fight for, the sucess of the artists depend on both medias. The one that produce it (YG) and the one that promotes it (KBS) they should be proud of the "indirect" alliances and sucess production they have by sharing talent ands dedication to million of fans

          I'm not blaming YG fans or anything I actually support that motion I kind understand YG situation due to the hard work they do: preparation, assessment, all the important "things" artists need and special stuff is required for the best performance. If you think about it, KBS only put all that effort on air; so the credit is mostly for YG support

    and i'm disappointed as well. my fav playlist. G done a lot to sing the songs. idk what's wrong with kbs. why they keep effing with YG artists? some guests of the program previously sang R rated song. totally biased. this is not good

    MAD respect to GD and YG! They didn't cancell stage. They made everithing. And reaviling this kind information just now.
    KBS will keep loosing money with such attitude to his partners. GD won't agree to go on KBS's show again. As well as YG artists, as well as any confident artists in Korean industry.
    It won't happen fast but KBS will fail staing just like that.

    YG artists prepare before they go on stage. Their preparation includes costume, backup choreography, arrangement of the songs, stage props, etc. It's so disrespectful of KBS to give their decision a day before the filming. Good thing GD and YG are very flexible because of their professional attitude. Still, that does not excuse KBS for the inconvenience.

    I don't care about KBS and wouldn't be watching it if it wasn't for GD appearing on the show. I'm very excited to see how Minzy do on MISSING YOU. I love her voice and I always thought to myself why they never ask for a collaboration from her and always BOM. I love Bommie and all, but Minzy's voice is great too and I think it fits this song well. Kim Yuna Tanitha got nothing on Minzy! I'm just glad it isn't Lydia! Eeeek!

      kbs is the most governmental restricted broadcast station. That's why it's so strict.... It's a shame but, it has happened so many times I don't really care anymore. It got a LOT better than before at least. you should see some of the stuff they banned in the past.

    Funny thing that many artists performed R-rated songs on the show but now it's "G-Dragon", they don't let him do that.

    YG doesn't like KBS, but kinda close with the artists work for KSB. The MC of this show and GD really like each other, he's a big fan of GD, I think that's a reason for GD to join the show.

    I don't mean to be rude or anything, but just as YG stated GD did a lot of things to perform those songs. And I was (and am) TOTALLY disappointed when I heard he wasn't going to perform That XX & especially Light It Up.
    Besides, GD has changed some parts in those songs, right? So why not?! Just please, set a new "saner" standards, KBS.

    Ok, fair enough GD has to apply for confirmation, but to let him know the day before? I'm sorry, but that is extremely unprofessional and inexcusable. I don't care if they're following government regulations and all that stuff, to prevent a small thing like performing certain songs on stage and not knowing if you could or not is just silly. No wonder GD changed his songs, KBS let him stress over what certain songs he was allowed to play. Geez, talk about haters -.- #SMH.
