      You're sounded so "bashing" though, and this is really immature to be honest. Okay, I know that Suju didn't make it in EMA but do you really need to say that, even in Big Bang's fan website? Honestly, Suju was the one who brought me into K-Pop (before I fell in love with Big Bang at the end) so I still have soft side for them. Even though as a fan we must think that out idol is the best, there's no need to bring down any other groups, in addition that Big Bang didn't even listed in EMA nomination again this year against Suju. I personally won't like it if any fandom bash Big Bang even in their forum so why don't we do the same thing to them, respect?

  I got no problem with Hyuna getting nominated because the nominees chosen were the ones active from october 2011-october 2012. And statistically speaking Hyuna's song did well on charts even though I didn't like the song at all. But nowhere near how Bigbang slayed the charts and yet wasn't chosen..

  It's pretty embarrassing to see these people who can't be fair and neutral in these kind of events. Sure we'll be biased to whatever WE think deserve but no need to put down other groups. (I only listen to BigBang) but nonetheless I think other groups deserve respect for being nominated.
  
  I think it's fair if not all the popular music gets nominated. Not all popular songs are artistically "great" in a sense which is what judges in these kinds of awards try to appreciate. Same way some movies are really great but not many people can appreciate it.

    Don't take Missing Attendence,Missing Award shows like this seriously. It has been explained MAMA is a bit of a joke when it comes to awards now, the performances are possibly worth tuning in for but otherwise the nominations, the voting are not important nor have the criteria you mentioned. Its not about the groups or their music quality or how they are percieved by the public its who Mnet choses for whatever reason and then only if they turn up.
    For example Super Junior has a huge and active fanbase so they get nominated in more catergories- more incentive for ELFs to vote, more hits, more money.
    They are also going to pick more groups who belong to certain agencies depending on criteria and then pick others to fill in the gaps.
    Some choices may be granted on artistic/musical merit or quality but the decisions are hinged on many other factors that are more industrial politics, money and deals.
    Essentially its a show for ratings (and possible controversy) so what your saying about being nice about others is fine but you give the 'judges' too much merit, if they cared about 'Art' over popularity where are all the 'indie'/'trot'/'underground'/'classical' bands? The fact that how they weight their votes is left in the dark or any criteria on how they rank the nominees work is normal for these sorts of shows but would not slide for a legitiment or meaningful ceremony.
    Another thing is music charts can reflect a songs quality e.g. GD's 'That XX' and Busker Busker's songs, hit roofs despite in GD's case <19 years old could not buy it (that a huge demographic market lost), and in Busker's case they do not have Super Juniors established and huge fanbase and people were not buying multple copies of one album with different covers. You can extrapolate from the data and resources that this music had strong public appeal and therefore the music would be fairly considered as a nominee. Its not a case of bias its a case of looking at the records, looking at the data, looking at the most played songs on the radio, critical reviews, the global distribution of music etc. and pooling that against the list Mnet has generated and finding they do not match.
    People will get upset when the organisation has blantently disregarded statistics that reflect public perception and reception towards the music (charts, sales etc.) and rub salt into the wound by picking nominees that do seem quite out of the blue. Hyuna is the prime example people are picking up because its based on music that's barely been heard yet and her achievements last year were already recognised in 2011.
    They do claim to take statistical records into account for the awards but its redundant if they have already elimated those that were the most sucessful statistically from the nominee list which makes online votes count more than they would have.
    
    Essentially it is a farse and does not even try to be otherwise anymore, it should not even be called the Asia music awards because almost all nominees are South Korean with a few novel guests. Its entertainment and a chance for organisation heads to rattle cages, suck up or take ribes, and for companies can get publicity or an opportunity to put on a mind blowing stage that at a huge venue and will leave a lasting impression. The way they do it has become so that the general public does not take it seriously and who wins what is barely mentioned after, its not like a Grammy or Oscar that will be put on your resume or how Big Bang can advertise that they were 'The EMA's best World Wide Act of 2011' in other things. We recall MAMA of the past for the performances and maybe the speeches and really thats what its about.
    So I will repeat don't flower up the system, we know what it is, we know how it operates, what it has become and people will get rightfully annoyed at it because it goes against principles not just music taste. Other artists are picked on because they represent the best example of this obvious skew that reflects the organisations percieved flaws and people want to point it out and their tone might be in a way that degrades that artists work as a way to exaggerate or get at the system but there is already a lot of bitterness over the double standards and events like this go and highlight it in big neon colours, not just for Big Bang but there are other songs who might deserve the nominee place on that list more than songs that barely blibed the sales charts or came out the day before. The Awards don't matter, but it evokes what makes people angry with the system.

don't wanna come across deluded or obsessed but is their a way I-VPS and K-VIPS can somehow discuss this with Mnet or complain why BB / 2ne1 is not nominated for song of the year... clearly, the evidence indicates that BB digitally did really well having more than 5 songs within the Top 100...also ranking really high within the top 3.... IF Mnet base album sales on statistics, then clearly they are bias since BB has one of the highest selling songs this year n made an impact in Korea and worldwide yet none of their songs were nominated..

EDIT: also, apparently i heard that BB may not be nominated for album of the year as it's a mini-album and not a full album... if this is true, then i'll T.T.... that's the only award i wanna c BB take as a whole since their ALIVE/STILL ALIVE ALBUM means alot and are high quality....

  hello..ed reeses i'm not from korea but i just feel frustrated about the system in korea concerning these award giving bodies. ok it concerns about the sales...unlike in america or europe aside from sales they also consider the contribution to music or the music/songs itself. i am not saying that we vips are bashing other group or saying we are the best but try to look, literally BIGBANG does evolve as artists,their album alive...and how they change k music...they're not stereotypes...and i just think mr.yg knows the system... maybe that's why he doesn't have good relationships with some companies except sbs??about suju they're from a giant company so we can't do anything about it and about their fanbase, they do have a very large fanbase and very loyal fans... no matter what happens good or bad the elves support their idol group..esp. in buying their albums.... that's the reason why suju survive in k music..but to be fair suju is also the reason why k pop has been known overseas their song sorry sorry but the sad part about suju is... no need to elaborate.and besides suju is the senior of bigbang so i think ... ok only my opinion, hope elves will not be angry, i think it would be.. you know bigbang getting the ... you know.. which is suju is their senior and who debuted first as idols... you know what i'm talking....

Not only for MAMA for every award show in Korea is a joke.No matter how much K pop get support from government, from K- media etc, it will never ever be taken seriously unless they adopt some legit standards for these shows like the Brits, VMAs and EMs.
  
  TBH, when I saw the list this morning my jaw dropped because of the shock! In fact I wouldn't vote to protest this beyond ridiculous and outrageous stuff but NO I changed my mind immediately and started voting for Big Bang to show those idiots,who skipped BB from the song of the year category, how much I love them. uhhh..well I think, psy is obviously very famous in the world right now. I am so proud of him but, like no offense to his fans, I feel like he's taking too much spotlight. He has performed everywhere in the western media and he will also perform in the MTV EMA's, the 1st korean to do it. I remember there was a poll in the EMA's facebook page a couple of months ago and it asked "which artists should perform in the stage this year?" Big Bang was first place! 35 nominees for song of the yr and half of the songs werent even
hugely popular in korea and not even ONE bigbang song so sad really. when i was in korea in july esp fantastic baby (even though they finished promotions) and were played EVERWHERE everyday i went out anywhere (along with busker busker)..both songs were like how psys gangnam style is played everywhere in korea.. Even their song ego was played so much.. goes to show how hugely popular they are but they have always struggled to win awards. Such a shame

Vips are known for being a little lazy (but mostly polls), not really for awards shows.. Vips vote, believe me, but if you saw the countries who voted the most, China is n°1 and i'm sure hardcore elfs and cassies are voting h24 7/7 and they probably are well organised in the voting system.
