T.O.P's new movie The Alumni suspends filming

T.O.P’s new movie, “Alumni,” has indefinitely suspended all filming due to the main director’s sudden departure from the crew.

According to Star News, the director of “Alumni,” Park Shin Woo, has stepped down from his position last month, and his replacement still has not been filled. Although filming started in July, Park Shin Woo and the production company couldn’t overcome their differences, and the recording has been stalled for over a month now.

The production company didn’t get into the details, only explaining, “All recording stopped because of the recent hurricane, and after internal discussion, we decided to replace the director.”

“Alumni” is a movie about a North Korean spy that gets dispatched to South Korea with his son. T.O.P plays the son of the North Korean spy, and tries to save his younger sister from danger.

    Wow that's such a shame. The story sounds fascinating and I was looking forward to seeing T.O.P. another emotionally challenging role. :(

    I hope they find a director who is passionate about the film, story and actors. And for T.O.P.'s sake I hope (if there's rescheduled re-shoots/filming) the filming doesn't end up clashing with Alive Tour dates...

        Maybe! On imdb it says that director John H. Lee (the guy you're talking about) is in pre-production for another film though.

        I wonder exactly how much of the film has been filmed? B/c if they're close to being finished then perhaps that director could help if he can spare the time?

    He waited so long the movie,he even couldn't attend official fanmeetings,events etc. to film the movie.For months he attended action school.And here is the irresponsible director ! Of Course there must be a reason for him to leave but it is just so sad.I miss Tabi so much.We couldn't see his face properly for ages...He should get a good result,he worked so hard.Damn...I am so unhappy right now :(

    This is disappointing and this just doesn't wreck his schedule but the other actors as well. If/When they bring in another director it'll potentially cause problems with whatever footage they have shot since all directors have their own style of directing and it's highly possible that they'll have to re-shoot from the beginning.
    I hope the movie isn't cancelled since the plot sounds so good and apparently was from a book? Anyway I guess Tabi has been resting that or maybe working on a solo album/song? *hopeful*

    In a way, it's a relief that filming stopped because my God, I think everyone's noticed how tired and thin he's been looking.

    What! This is ridiculous!! SOOO very unprofessional of the director to just leave in the middle of a freakin' movie! OMG...! Not happy at all. I hope they find a replacement soon cause I really wanna watch the movie & I don't think TOP will have time if not this month!! SIGHHHHHHHHHHHH! Don't tell me he's gonna end up leaving the movie like he did his recent drama! T____T

      I'm not sure he (the director) wanted to leave, the release says there were clashes and in the release the production company says "after internal discussion, we decided to replace the director.” It's not really clear what happened. Anyway, although it's usually not a good sign, directors do get replaced... the only issue here is TOP won't be available for filming again until December, unless he's gonna like do a concert, fly back to Korea to film, do another concert... (actually for the dates in SE Asia he could probably do that).

    Not only T.O.P but think about all the others who were working so hard on the set what a disappointment, I can't imagine their frustration ...

    Well this truly sucks for everyone involved, specially those whose money are on the line here. But as we all know in the movie world somebody is bound to pick up the pieces and move on and finished the project sooner or later. The only thing I'm happy about is that Tabi can now get some rest, even if just couple of days.

      I wouldn't be too quick to blame the director. A director has his/her own vision that may clash with what the production company wants. And the production company is more often concerned with the money side of things than the artistic aspects...It is a shame that their disagreement was so severe, but it is not fair to say the director's stance/vision was wrong. And we don't know what they disagreed on at this point.

    honestly i'm more surprise such news broke out. i mean, even if there's problem don't you usually hide it well or at least they could just release the news if things already official?. whether it's new director or the movie cancelled permanently.

    things still so blurry it's just gave off bad image both for the movie and the director and all tbh. especially for people that has money rolls in it. it's not publicity stunt isn't it?
