G-Dragon Apologizes for Recent Negative Press on Big Bang Members

Big Bang‘s G-Dragon has addressed the recent negative press about his other members and apologized.

G-Dragon, who recently released his second solo album “One Of A Kind,” held an interview on September 19 and said, “There have been numerous happenings and accidents within our team,” and “The actions are not something that people can easily understand so as public figures, I think it is our fault.” While G-Dragon has been involved with marijuana and Daesung involved in a car accident, Seungri has recently been involved in a scandal with a Japanese actress.

He continued, “But because we are human, we are all prone to mistake,” and “I don’t know how others will view it but we are still young and we are still going through many trial and errors.” He added, “Our members started this work since we were young so sometimes we do things that are wrong,” and “We will try harder from now on and be more careful.”

He said, “When we get together these days, we say, ‘If we continue like this, things are going to get harder. Let’s try harder.’” On being a leader, G-Dragon said, “In the past, when someone did something wrong, I said something but from some point, I lost that energy and I myself couldn’t even set a good example. I should take the leader stance like before from now on.”

G-Dragon also spoke about the 19+ rating for his track, “That XX.” He said, “It’s not a very seriously offensively word but it’s not the best word for the older generations to hear so I wanted it to be 19+,” and “Since the rating was already decided, I could’ve made it more explicit but since I am still an idol singer, I lowered the level.” G-Dragon added, “The 19+ rating may seem harmful but I don’t think my music will lead the youth to a bad direction. When I was young and I heard sexual or explicit lyrics like DJ DOC, I thought, ‘These people really just say what’s on their minds,’ and that’s it.”

Meanwhile, G-Dragon also spoke about his fellow labelmate Psy‘s world-wide recognition for “Gangnam Style.” He said, “When Psy hyung first allowed me to listen to the song, I didn’t think it would become this big. Honestly, I’m a bit jealous but I’m also very proud.”

      seung ri don't need to return in korea , yes he had scandal but this not should halt his work. he is finaly doing something he likes , getting recognition for it , i'm sure maknae will learn to be more careful. and i hope yg forgive him and let him keep doing what he likes

        Seungri's time in Japan was supposed to end in September, anyways. So I think whether or not all of this had happened or not, Seungri will return to Korea soon = )

      I really admire GD, and he is a perfect leader. Even in this situation, he stands out to apologize even there's no fault. He knows BB stands as a strong public figures, he simply doesn't want any negative influences to the public eyes. We as VIP must realized that not all people can think positive toward BB. At this time, since GD already stands out to face this topic, maybe it is time for Seungri to say something.

        It's not that simple, YG wont just let Seungri comment about it just like that. I'ts probably a strategic move to just let it be like they have, and let G dragons solo activities cover it up.

          I totally agree. Yg should be pro at this by now. I like how they don't give long winded explanations but get straight to the point. The more you explain honestly.. the less people will believe and even if you took all the time and effort explaining yourself it doesn't mean the public will believe you.

I'm kinda glad the boys don't have a squeaky clean reputation and I also hope the public learns to stop jumping on everyone who makes mistakes especially if they're minor

    GD is a good leader.. For media 'bad news will always be good news'. Well, I'm glad that at least some of VIPs are really loyal and keep supporting Big Bang.     GD you're a really great leader and person. I know you've made mistakes and you acknowledge that no one is perfect. I really admire him for apologizing on behalf of his members because thats represents himself as a leader. He really didn't need to apologize, but I understand why he felt the need to. I know that Psy is really popular overseas but I really GD is a really great artist that represents k-pop well. He is definitely successful in korea and part of a successful group so he doesn't need to go viral at all. It's ok, just make great music and continue being the leader of big bang and he'll have the support from vips!

    honestly bigbang being imperfect is what mde me fall in love with them in the first place ! their look was different from others idols, their music was different, their way of being was different. honestly some people forget that those guys started when they were teens they did not have possibility to enjoy all little things that every guy in their twenties enjoy. in our twtenties is when peoples make the most mistakes , do a lot of good or bad experience. at the end of the day despite being talented musicians they are first normal guys in their twenties!
    yes i know korea is very strict when it come to reputation but at least i hope most vips try to understand that they are humans like us who fall in love , make mistakes, and learn from them. ji i'm sure your members will never lose respect for you no matter what mistake or controversy you have ever had like vips we will also never lose respect for you and for the rest of yours members. we will always try to understand you guys , yes it's good for you guys to try to improve your reputation but i hope in the process you don't lose yourselfs. personaly i don't want to see the boys become some robotic idols.

      SeungRi seems to be an 'easy target' lately. Feels like, it is easier for people to believe this 'scandal' if it happen to SeungRi and add a reason to hate him. Those image that he has now are also 'built' by people around him.     God, I so love BB for what they are - true, honest, natural and very sincere guys. I hope they make as many mistakes as they can, because this is experience and it is crucial for them as artists to have LOTS of it. I mean, that's where the lyrics come from, the music is born. From all those emotions. They can't live in a box or a golden castle, be "perfect" for the public and at the same time come up with brilliant and believable lyrics and songs that actually touch people.
    So I don't get haters, I'm surprised there are any at all, probably youths in their 15 or whatever. I'm 24 and I totally get it - the wish to experience your life to the fullest, even if it means trouble))) So if Ri desides to flirt his ass off with a bunch of chicks - so be it! Guys are guys and they need stuff, artists need all of it even more. Being an artist means staying true to yourself and not letting the fame of publicity change you. In the end of the day you are who you are and that's what got you so damn popular and great.

    Yes he's young and just wanna have fun, but this is not a good image for him or his fellow members. He is a public figure. Although we, VIPS, know how Seungri is, others don't. They will give him a bad name and it doesn't only effect him, but his members as well.

    If you want to be a normal person, you're gonna have to give up the celebrity life. Everyone know celebrities can't have a normal life because THIS will happen to them.

    GD is a great leader no doubt in my mind, but he is not responsible for every action that the BB members make. They are all young people who have the right to have a private life and experience life, yes they are public figures and need to be careful, but they are humans beings and not perfect. Seungri so called scandal is not a scandal at all, the guy was just hanging out with a group of friends during his off hours, maybe the kid hasn't realized how famous he is now, but I'm pretty sure he has learned his lesson. Like GD said everyone in BB started so young of course they are going to make mistakes along the way, but life is all about learning from your mistakes and moving on, that is part of growing up whether you are famous or not.
    I can't wait to hear from Seungri explain his "Scandals" the kid is so witty and smart I'm sure is going to be entertaining to hear it or read it, and I'm sure there is going to be lots of teasing from his hyungs. My love and all support for all BigBang.

    First of All- G-dragon does not need to apologize of feel sorry for anything! Just because his life and the rest of BIG BANG'S is not private anymore, and they are all celebrities (quite awesome ones) does not mean they are not entitled to being human and making mistakes. These guys are just like us but they have talents that were meant to be shared with the world.
    Bet there are thousands of people like him and fans like us who have done crap we are not proud of, but that provides us with an incentive to become better people and learn from mistakes. I mean perfection does not exist, and the closest you can strive to it is to learn from your mistakes and become someone better.
    Those damn media people are the pathetic ones who owe an apology!! they need to stop making everything so damn public and making it sound like just cuz people like G-D are famous they have to adhere to a whole different set of laws than the average joe. There only damn goal by doing that is to make money. Like wut the heck.
    Note- I am not having a break down, but someone such as G- Dragon does not have to stoop lower than those wolves and apologize for being human.

    The other Bigbang members are just used to being big brothers to Seungri, who is the group's maknae (the youngest), always making sure he keeps his big mouth shut and having him toe the line with respect to his many girlfriends.That's just the way they are ... It's a cultural thing.

    I think it is better to see Big Bang has to go through something in order to become stronger than ever.
    Somehow I am more worried if nothing happen with our boys. Stuck in comfort zone or something like that. We know that our boys will pass obstacles anyways.
    And all we have to do as VIP is always support them no matter what.
    Of course i dont want something bad happen to big bang, i just want them to keep being challenged..

      He did address it. Of course there is a time and place to address your scandals and issues. I don't think its necessary to compare scandals. It's in the past and they've learn from their mistakes. Right now all we have to do with Support big bang and Seungri. Gd did a good job here.

    WHY SEUNGRI HASN'T MADE AN APOLOGY ( YET ) :

    Surely you must understand that Seungri can't just comment about it however he wants, YGent are the ones who tells him when and how he should apologize, or if he even should. maybe they think it's safer for him to not comment at all. Either way Seungri has no power in this matter ( if he don't want a lot of trouble that is)
    I dont know if their tactis is to just wait it out and let GD solo activities cover it up, i think it has done a fairly good job so far.

    ALSO:
    With G Dragons solo and all, he surely is in the spotlight right now, so its only natural to have him be the one to comment about the incidents. People are sort of craving for a reaction from the members to acknowledge these "scandals".

    So Im sure some (YG)people sat down with GD to talk about the best way to adress the issue, thereby this apology.

    The way it's phrased " As public figures, I think it is our fault " and such, is a way (even if GD means it or not) to make the fans/people feel sympathy for them, making us think as if they are burdend with guilt, even though it IS ridicusly clear that it's not their fault! It's just the media world that has gotten out of hand. ( my opinion).

    I guess what i want to have said is that these sort of statements doesn't just happen out of the blue, it's well calculated by YGent people to get the best reaction out of fans like us ,who read and care about these things.
    And why i'm writing this isn't to claim that GDs apology is insincere in any way, i'm Just saying that YG (and any other entertainment business) holds their artists in an iron grip, especially when it comes to these kind of things! And because i got a bit upset when i saw some comments like" why aren't Seungri apologizing??" and how GD is the good guy for doing so, Remember they are all in this together!

    LASTLY: Even if the apology is well planned and all, it doesn't make it any less of an apology, and why would they/him have to give an apology in the first place?

    Geez, let the man have SEX!! Let's be realistic, we know our boys are not virgins (except for Taeyang and maybe Daesung). Having sex is part of life. Sometimes VIPs, we need to just grow up and accept the fact that our boys are sexual beings too.

    you guys remember that issue that made lots of VIPS annoying and crying? the 'KBS weekly entertainment reply'. the programme got a warning from committee on June. but people only remember the issue only. it's sad. In march, Bigbang was asked 'what do you think about the programme?' when they had a press conference for Alive concert. GD and Dae said 'it's all our fault' 'we made a disappointement to the public'. what else could they say? do you think they can say 'oh! the programme is ridiculous! it's nonsense!!' they can not even though they wanted to do so. they are not in the srong or higher position than broadcast station or reporters. The person who should say something to protect them is YG CEO himself. In this case, it's the same thing. they should apologize for it. that is what the public wants. And even it's just privacy of someone(SR), it's true that the image of one night thing affected Bigbang's image agian.

    i actually just heard about seungri's scandal from a friend of mine few days ago, but i really don't think it's something serious. i mean, everyone who read the news would probably think 'oh, he's a man. that's nothing shocking about that.' i think people who exaggerated on this story is delusional, probably thinking that as an Idol, they should be 'perfect' and 'set an example' bla bla blah. i honestly think seungri just being human, and nothing wrong of that. this whole thing just being blown out of proportion by delusional, overreacted people and or by those who envy them. God, if some Hollywood stars do the same thing, it won't get this big.

    for me its not about GD apologizing or him not apologizing.
