Mmh I read the whole article, they wrote nothing bad.. In fact I like it.

      • dodo18

the article is not so bad but i'm talking about how french media usualy portray kpop, i don't know if you have watched all documentaries about kpop that french media have done so far . i find it sad that bigbang will be put under those streotypes. but i hope when bigbang visit us , they can earn some praise for their awesome talent , and not fall under the pretty boy kpop group category

    • Guest

uhh, can you please summarize it in english? And why did they give bigbang 4/5?

      • Wizzit

its not a rating for Big Bang its just the 4th page of that article

      • smallgirl

They didn't talk about bigbang specifically, I translated this for a friend, but here it is (most of it) translated
bands are making their comebacks -admit it you've danced to the spice girls too- [...] just look at these young, cutesy/only good for their looks english boys  1 direction, helped by a wave of fans on the internet. In kpop there are several soloists, but the majority of them are "idols" and placed in a group of 4-9 singers. Behind these groups, there is usually a sort of formula/equilibrium: they'll put a very good singer, a very good dancer, a very good actor, and a very beautiful "face/image" in charge of representing this group.

this author is obviously sort of biased towards girlgroups/boybands D:<

    • NaToTheWak

Exactly, French media keep refering to KPop as "bubblegum pop" and keep comparing it to the boysbands and girlsbands of the 90's... and Girl's Generation's live on Canal+ was such a fail! I hope they'll invite Big Bang too, to show what's the real deal!

      • dodo18

i totaly feel you , seriously hope bigbang can prove that kpop have more to offer than bubblegum songs. why did sm have to come in france first why , why !!!

    • http://twitter.com/YinPestano Cindy Pestaño

Bigbang is the group that always tries to break free from stereotypes. They did it in Korea and I truly hope and believe that they can do it again; this time, the whole world.

      • Ctsl_bb

THIS<33333333 So totally agreed! Big Bang's always the group to break stereotypes and bring forth things that others wouldn't dare to try, setting trends for others to follow. Once France gets a taste of Big Bang, let's hope they realise that they can't judge all bands just based on a few bands (which I might add more than likely came from a certain Big 3 company)!

    • TOP’s fingers

I totally agree with you. This article is bullshit, BIGBANG us more than a pretty face boyband.

heu!seem like our BOYs have been mention all over this world!!

    Translation:

It's time to think seriously about the musical phenomenon of the moment: k-pop. You know nothing about it, you're intrigued, you're asking youselves what's happening in the worldwide pop music? Here's a remedial course.

7/ Because 'bands' are making their big return in pop music.

Manifestations of our childhood loves (don't lie, we all danced to G-Squad and the Spice Girls), the concept of a boyband/girlband seems to be becoming the new edge: look at One Direction, this group of young English 'kids' (note: "twinks") who are reviving this trend, helped by a wave of enamoured fans on the Internet. In k-pop, there are a few soloists, but the big majority of "idols" are placed in formations of 4-9 singers. Behind this, an equilibrium: including a very good singer, a very good dancer, a very good actor, and a beautiful "face" charged with representing the group.

  • NaToTheWak

Attempt of a translation, it may be grammatically approximative.

    10 reasons to discover Kpop

It’s time to seriously pay attention to the current musical phenomenon: Kpop. You don’t know anything about it, you’re curious, you’re wondering what’s happening in the world’s pop music? Remedial class.

7/ Because “bands” are coming back in pop

Avatar of our childhood loves ( don’t lie, we all danced to G-Squad and the Spice Girls), the boysband/girlsband concept seems trendy again: look at One Direction, this band of English young pretty boys shaking everything on its path, helped by a wave of loving fans on the Internet. In Kpop, there are a few solo acts, but the great majority of “idols” are set in a formation of 4 to 9 singers. The reason for that is a will of balance: let’s put a very good singer, a very good dancer, a very good actor, a very beautiful “face” in charge of representing the group.

  • ms_sv

I can't believe I missed it (tomorrow I will buy this magazine)
and mostly I'm sick of people comparing "BIG BANG" to "One Direction" or others!
& say basically that Kpop is for kids ( teenagers!)

It gets on my nerves, it's not like that that people will be interested in KPOP and take KPOP seriously if there are people who say anything!
A letter is needed, they will hear me!
Discuss what you know, otherwise SHUT UP!!!

The day where BIG BANG come and the media say anything,
My God that day it will be their Party!

    I'm not a fan of Kpop I'm just a VIP ^__^

because I don't understand french i was reading your comments.

    • bigbangfanUS

me too :) Im only active when BIGBANG is around and dont follow kpop when they are not around..:)

    • Anna Z

I discovered Kpop because of BIGBANG. But I'm only perceived as a kpop-lover when I hear BIGBANG. It's not that I don't like kpop. It's just that I LOVE it when it comes to BIGBANG, and I feel only neutral about it the other times.

    • topalltheway

i'm not a kpop lover, i listen to BIGBANG only, the bb boys are  unique and they are not giving robotic perf. each boy carries a free soul and projects their own talent.
i love BIGBANG the way they are <3

      • Guest

I listen to Kpop a lot, but I really love what you said. "the bb boys are unique and they are not giving robotic perf. each boy carries a free soul and projects their own talent." Couldn't agree more! Although I don't dislike the rest of the groups, I'd really have to admit that their dances are so in sync to an extent that they look like robots. While it may be the reason why others like them, it'll definitely not be the case for me. And that is why, I proudly declare myself as a VIP :)

    • myeolraVIP

Me too. :D In my K-POP world there's only BIG BANG. :)

  • Anna Z

to me, BIGBANG defines 'kpop' better than ANYTHING else.. EVER! I don't know, it's just a feeling of mine. :D

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000137461857 Adlyns J. Ninethieyfours

    it's good for Big Bang ! :D

  • calimakicrazzzy

what are the other 9 reasons? :D

  • mizskullzzz

so agree with this...BIGBANG is d 1st reason i discover kpop...

  • http://twitter.com/Dichasse Summer Fitzgerald

That is indeed TRUE. It was Big Bang that got me hooked on Kpop. But I do believe BIG BANG is beyond Kpop. Come on, just look at their fashion sense, great music. Don't you agree?

Over all, Big Bang is such a great band.

  • Genlisa

sad. nice perception but still sad. there seem to be a need for the world to know this from now on, Big Bang technically from the music they brought in this year...should graduate from being under the misconception of fluffy k-pop.

Big Bang is already a whole new genre on it's own, now.
    so wayyy different than k-pop.

  • sarah the terror

The article never directly talks about BIGBANG. It literally says that boyband/girlbands are becoming popular again like they were when we were kids, they mention being young and dancing to G-Squad and the Spice Girls. Then they move on to say that One Direction is huge on the internet. There is literally only one sentence about KPop in this whole article and it sas,

"In Kpop, there are a few soloist but most "idols" are placed in groups between 4 and 9 singers, a good dancers, and a good looking "face" who is responsible for representing the group.

I am gonna read the whole thing, but I don't think BIGBANG is mentioned directly. Just talking about KPop.

    • sarah the terror

Lol reading the article right now, it sounds like it could be on allkpop.com.

First page is about how Girls' Generation is the best in KPop -_____-

      • sarah the terror

On page 5/5 of the article there is mention of BIG BANG's scandal, this is what it says:

Usually, with few exceptions, all Idols are "officially" single until marriage, they do not smoke or drink. But sometimes the reality is, in 2011, the group Big Bang has had two major scandals. One member, Daesung, was involved in a car accident that killed one person, and G-Dragon had been tested positive for marijuana.

For once, I feel like taking French paid off.

i dunno what the french are saying here... some lost in translation... but its good to know the world is taking note.... but i wish the journalists/writers/reporters would just let go off the past - its all behind! They've resurrected with a new vigor, more passion and love for music... let's just focus on those!
