Taeyang's Naver Music Interview [AUDIO/TRANS]

Interviewer: What is BIGBANG to you?
Taeyang: I got the same question before. My answer will always be the same. Big Bang is a tree and I’m just a branch. When we are together as five, we make a big tree which has many leaves and fruits.

Interviewer: You guys had a hard time last year.
Taeyang: Last year was a new beginning to us. I heard that many groups have their hard times after 5 years, last year was ours. For us, it was not because of an argument but something from the outside. On the other hand, I’m thankful. It gave us a chance of making us live longer and stronger.

Interviewer: What makes Big Bang one?
Taeyang: Music. Our characters are so different. It gives the team a fatal blow because each has a very strong personality. However, we all like music, performing on the stage, dancing and singing together. We don’t argue whatever comes to us. We are always doing music happily and that makes us one.

Interviewer: You guys are the focus of attention but attention can be changed to indifference.
Taeyang: It is true that people’s interest and love make us work harder but even if the circumstances change, we want to do music together. I really love being on the stage. I want to tell you to just watch us grow up, especially this year. Love our music once again. I don’t mean that buy our albums but rather watch our development, our growth.

Interviewer: Six songs are all titles.
Taeyang: Yes. When we listened to our songs, it was very hard to choose just one title. Each song has a different meaning and shows a clear distinction. All songs are too good to miss. So we chose all 6 titles to show you.

Interviewer: I heard that ALIVE album is colorful.
Taeyang: Yes. Every song has its own color.

Interviewer: Tell me about the first title song, BLUE.
Taeyang: BLUE is really lyrical and sensitive. It is different from other songs that we’ve released before. It’s fresher than others. The lyrics are about emptiness and loneliness after breaking up. When we and the producers heard BLUE in the studio, we felt that BLUE is not attractive. However, when our friends heard the song, they said that it’s a touching music.

    i just have one question for vip who with BB last year, because im new, is there any different bigbang comeback this year and last year? how much people anticipated last year and this year? are there different? if i can turn back time, i want to feel the last year album feeling of waiting..so with the air environment is full with the comeback news, i really want to know.

    Well I don't know much about last year's comeback since I started to become vip after their comeback. But for this year, the comeback is totally different than any other comeback before. BB had a rough times last year, with Daesung's car accident and GD's marijuana scandal. And this time,they finally can stand up and perform again after their self-reflection period that make their bonds as BIGBANG tougher than before.

    As a VIP from the debut, i think i could answer your question. Last year was really meaningful because it was an album we waited for 2 and a half years. We lost many VIPs, new groups such as 2PM and Beast started to weaken their spots through that period. Musically, all Korea was anticipating Bigbang's new color and their development as musicians and a group which gave a lot stress to the boys. But again, since Korea knows how incredibly talented they are public seem to set a higher bar for BigBang than any other idol every time they make a comeback. GD&TOP started the promotion with a very successful album followed by Seungri's first mini album which was unexpectedly good considering it was prepared in short amount of time. 4th mini album was released and all of the songs charted 1-6 in all major charts. Response were mixed, some said Bigbang grew up musically whereas some said they lost their harmony. But once again BigBang proved their talent with Special Edition album where Love Song received very good feedback from both public and music specialists. Overall, they were the only one group besides 2ne1 who charted their non title songs in top 20 of 2011 which proves BIGBANG is the only one national boy group at the moment. 

    This year, its even more meaningful. Not only they have to prove their musical ability, but they have to price that they are worth that second chance that Korea had given. Korean public is really harsh, no one was ever forgiven with marijuana scandal and car accidents before not to mention they were from the same group. its YG's effort, but also a prove of public's love for these boys. korea is not ready to let go of their hands yet, they are too talented for that. and of course, MTV EMA played a big role. VIP proved that they are the most loyal fandom, they stood by them and we lost only about 2000VIPs which is a very small number considering the scale of their issues. 

    So, last year was their time show their new music direction, their grow as artists and to prove that BIGBANG is still National boy band whereas this year they have to prove that they are worth all those love and chances that they no one ever received before.

    Last year's comeback was big because we have waited for a long time, but after all it was just a comeback as another.
    But this year was so hard for our boys and for the VIPs, many  people were speaking about the band's separation and things like that... So after  this long and dark period, seeing them together on stage and making new songs and so on, this is like... breathing again. Just as a rebirth. That's just what I think personally.

    Last year comeback was anticipated very much since it had been nearly 2 years for them after doing their solo activities. This year comeback is even more bigger... cuz those incidents last year with the EMA awards make BB & vips even stronger!!! U can see that this year BB attend more shows, go to more places to promote their album... many teasers unveiled ... 
    Personally, I was so excited with the 4th mini album and very satisfied after it was released. But what im feeling now... is EXTREMELY EXCITED !!! & reading the boys' interviews, i have high hopes for the songs too.

    I'm so teary eyed with this.  Thank you for elaborating.  They may have lost 2000VIPs but I'm sure they will gain 10x more.  BIG BANG has something special that you can't find among any other group. I give my full support to them and hope the BEST & I know they will gain nothing but the BEST.

    I duno I'm a new VIP or whatever but I know I really start falling in love with them since very last year, even though Ive heard their songs too like haru haru,lies before that. But I become a VIP just last year and now they're already important to me :) #BIG BANG effect!

    It never crossed my mind that they would break up..they are too strong for that..Music has always been their first priority, not fame and fans like the other groups (that's why they broke up)... 

    I have only been their fan since 2010 but I know that with the kind of blows that they took last year, they will never be broken..They will always come up swinging at their critics & anti-fans..

    And I will always trust them to give us VIPs the kind of music we will always recognize as truly theirs and love...
