Why was G-Dragon singled out? [NEWS]

Big Bang’s G-Dragon received a suspension of indictment recently for smoking marijuana. As ripples of the events are shocking the fans, some are starting to wonder why out of all the members in Big Bang, only G-Dragon was investigated for the charges.

According to the prosecution, G-Dragon smoked marijuana while in Japan in mid-May. YG Entertainment, G-Dragon’s management company, also officially issued a statement of admission and apology, “While on tour in Japan in May, they were out drinking with the event coordinators in Japan and when G-Dragon went to the restroom, someone who appeared to be a fan gave him what he thought was a cigarette. He inhaled a couple of times but felt different from a cigarette so he remembers throwing it out in the toilette”. It is believed that G-Dragon’s contact with marijuana occurred during Big Bang’s tour in Japan from May 10th through the 19th in Osaka, Chiba, and Nagoya.

Some are starting to wonder then why G-Dragon was singled out. If Big Bang was on tour together during that time, why was G-Dragon the only one subjected to the urine and hair testing for drugs? The prosecutor’s office simply stated, “There was only information regarding G-Dragon. There was no mention of other members, therefore only G-Dragon was investigated”.

The fans wonder yet, because once drug-related stories break out they tend to continue with others given past history. Entertainment industry insiders are worried that G-Dragon’s investigation will be followed by others in a string. The prosecutor’s office verified, “There are no other active investigations ongoing at this time other than G-Dragon”. For now.

    maybe the person who gave the "cigar" to GD is a "known person" or someone who have a power/authority to be with the Celebrity , you can't just get "too" close to a celebrity who's popular like BIGBANG eventhough you're in a restroom,  people who uses the restroom are the same people who are part of the party..as stated above, it says PARTY with the EVENT COORDINATORS,  which means, the event corrdinators and of course with some close friends/staffs..... maybe someone just framed up GD because of JEALOUSY....and why would they say release these stuffs when just now when it happened a few months ago? maybe they are using this to cause delay to BB's future plans because they are THREATENED!!!!!!!

    about YG's statement. it is generic. But they had to say 'guilt' because he made a confession during the investigation.It is necessary to add that in if not the public will question his sense of remorse.otherwise it will be contradictory.it is kinda expected in an official apology.

    and actually i feel bad for GD. Because this is a personal issue that he had a clear conscience on. But he had to confess that he is guilty..that he did smoke during the investigation..and worse,had to be responsible to the public for something he was careless about and the impact to the public. So when he has an impact on the fans,public he felt remorseful.

    (e.g  you are the role model/leader in school..but you were careless enough to get drugged etc  at a party.you are pissed that everyone thinks you are **** when you don't feel guilty cause it is not your fault. But you feel guilty in a way as you are 'showing a bad example' to those who looked up to you)

    hopefully that answers why 
    'GD's guilt is subjected to public opinion'

    OKKK GD is framed up. the prosecutor said there was an info ONLY about gd. who would actually report that to a korean governement if GD was in japan?? my conclusion was that GD was framed up in japan but the people behind these are korean because it was reported in korea. like if this happened in japan, wouldnt it be reported in japan. SRSLY. he was framed up and we VIP needs to do somethhing about it. this was done out of JEALOUSY!

    there is something wrong.srsly. i just realized if they(YG, prosecutor, GD) found out that the result was positive way back in june or july then why did they plan to have GDs comeback and GD TOP album realeased in japan??! didnt they think that this issue might blow up just in a matter of time?! iDONT get it. theres something fishy hear that we need to find out.

    I think he is framed: I don't know if it was black (indication for being drugs) or if it was white but if it would be a country where it isn't allowed I would go for white just like a cigaret so black is really a small chance. So you can't see the difference in a disco when it was white. The only way to know is by smell and taste. So this investigator needs to know how it smells like so he needs to be there like a few meters away. But even then I find it strange that this investigator knows how it smells. It could just as good be a cigaret with the smell of a cigar. And how many people here on this forum would now how it smells like or would find it in the disco when someone really would stand next to you with this drugs. The only people that really could know are the once that really saw and smelled it once. (like me but it's unfair reason because I like in NL)

    And I do think your right about him being framed. It could happen to anyone that someone gives you something that's actually really bad to have.

    And it was in the hair. So I know drugs is stronger than smoke. And I go to my friends house mother smokes in the cellar. So the house it self does not smell like smoke. I go home and my clothes and hair changed to clothes that smells like smoke. So it could just as good be with drugs. So even without the puffs it could be in his hair. So how does this inspector even know he did it. Except for the fact that GD told the story and I do believe him (GD) for the full 100%

    My interpretation is that since the case was closed and was meant to never be shown in public GD let it go and as well as everyone else that knew about the situation. But since it was let out into the public who wouldn't feel a sense of guilt? I mean even though the event took place a while ago GD probably didn't think it would be uncovered . I feel that his guilt was more towards him feeling that he let down BIGBANG and his fans by this story coming out. I honestly don't think he thought much of it after the case was closed because he really didn't feel he "did" drugs. Technically he did use it but I think he felt confident because he felt it wasn't intentional. But there's always that chance that he was suppressing that worrying thought and when things pile up in the media its really hard to not show your concerns. I also agree that YG's answer is generic though.

    It feels like a conspiracy. Like as if someone has been planning all this. Trying to trap GD. I can just imagine. 'Jap Fan' acting all friendly and fan-like, went over to GD to offer him some cigarette. At another table, a group of bribed reporters were frantically snapping photos of GD acknowledging the 'Jap Fan', of him taking the ciggies, of him taking a few puffs. 

    Okay perhaps there wasn't any pictures taken as proof, but if it was a tip-off, isn't it harder to convince someone else that you saw a celebrity smoking pot unless of course, your involved in this whole conspiracy. I mean, how the heck someone else noes that's pot unless the 'Jap Fan' is your friend. 

    I think I've watched too many dramas.

    since the beginning of all the issue i was like WHUT? they randomly went and tested GD alone? i felt paranoid thinking all this issue was planned but now im with my mouth wide open cuz it seems he actually GOt framed... its not like they can charge the japanese boy since its not korean police jurisdiction. GD's still at fault but im curious of how they found out...

    I don't know much about drugs, I didnot even know until recently different cigarrettes smell different or had 'flavor', anyway but apparently some have very distinct smells that linger in the areas where they've been burnt. Apparently this is why people say GD should have know it was Marijuana before he smoked it - although it is possible that he's not exposed enough to drugs to know the difference or is usually too accostomed to being round trusting friends/fans/nice people that he gives strangers the benefit of the doubt. That's probably putting him in rather too naive and 'sheltered' light.
    Anyway back on point, it is possible someone smelt it on him and tipped the police off.
    Where it gets fishy:
    1) Tip off on GD only, not that the drug is being done in the club
     or anyone else reported at the club that night
    2) Tip off Korean police and not the Japanese
    3) ten days later not immediately - why wait if it's just the drug use that is the issue
    4) The law and endorsers are being quite sympathetic with GD (obviously becuase the evidence showed it was not a punishable offence) but remarks and attiudes  so far come across kindly towards GD, even though drug use is extremely bad there and that he is a role model and celebrity.
    5) News came out at the time of the politican scandel
    6)  News came out before the time YG hinted GD may make a comeback
    Details are vague still but that is a lot of intriguing coicidences. Perhaps  if someone did chose to frame him they did so in Japan becuase GD doesn't know the language very well and would be even more reluctant to upset a pushy 'fan' by being rude increasing the liklihood of him smoking the drug. If so were the prosectors more gentle with him becuase they felt something was up.

    Maybe the connection everyone sees is that the person that 'tipped them off" is probably the same person involving the one that gave GD that smoke. There's really no reason why someone would give a random tip-off to them unless they had a reason to. I think usually that reason is bad since they tipped them off knowingly it could ruin his image and career.

    The investigators made this all seemed so unprofessional by only investigating GD only, and not the entire club..

    It amazes me how much of a big deal this is for GD, if he was caught smoking weed in the States no one would care because he's famous and half of the country is just waiting around for it to be legalized. I personally believe he has smoked that good stuff and the media and prosecution is making life hard on him for their own sick amusement.

    that's what I think. since it was a private case even if Gd did feel guilty at the time he can't just stop his promotions. if he did then everyone would wonder why.
    however since the case is now public Gd feels sorry to his fans b/c the drug is illegal and now he is causing heartaches to the fans as well as trouble to his grp members (stopping activities, etc)

    I think I found out whom it could be. The one that gave it to him. Just think of it and read my last message. Whom else then the person whom gave it to him would know it in a place full with people. Okay the only other person would be the person whom wanted it to happen. And like I said drugs especially marihuana can only be found by smell in this case so whom else would know how it smells. Or if those people where stupid and at the same time smart enough to make the whole cigaret black like the way in the netherlands just to see him doing it.

    And by the way that I think there wouldn't be any fan that would give drugs even if it's using it. I think at least a true fan or vip wouldn't.

    This is standard "face-saving" that is is expected of celebrities caught up in a scandal, it has nothing to do with the truth.  If a scandal drops, you follow an expected protocol, in this case apology and self-reflection.  In reality, they'll just lay low until things die down.  It might be difficult for us to understand, but it seems to be a cultural thing.

    I disagree with your stance on what happened with Daesung.  His members had to continue some promotions because they had contract obligations as well as a need to generate revenue.  This benefited Dae too, and I'm positive they did it in his best interest.  They did what they could to care for him, and in this case, dropping all activities wasn't it.

    Before you get me wrong, I am not against GD in any way. In fact I really hope that GD would not be too affected by this.

    What I was saying was in fact YG's statement about GD feeling guilty, and therefore taking time off only after news broke out. And then I went on to describe the likely scenario if that statement was true. To put it very bluntly, YG's statement sounded so fake as if it's intention was just to do damage control and it is just going through the standard procedure of apologizing to appease the public, and then take time off. 

    If they need to stop his activities to allow time for the news to blow over, just do so, but don't use his guilt as an excuse. Because firstly if he is confident that he did nothing wrong, there is no guilt to be felt even if news became public?

    Unless you are saying that because news broke out, that's why he started to feel guilty (when you said "but of course he would feel guilty about tarnishing his public image n being responsible n so on..."), this just proves the initial statement that GD's guilt is subjective to public's opinion.

    whether he was framed or not it is besides the point. Although i really support GD and hope he doesn't stop promoting, i am a bit skeptical about YG's statement saying GD will stop his promotions to take time for self-reflection due to his guilt. 

    My question is, why did he start to feel guilty only when the news was released out to the public? The test results and case was closed way back in july so he already knew about this yet he did not feel guilty and continued his performances, plans for solo album, and GD&TOP's album in japan? Now that the news is out, suddenly he feels guilty and needs time for self-reflection? Sounds to me like his guilt was subjective to public's opinion. I am not against GD but more skeptical towards YG's official statement. 
    And through this situation, we can see the different treatment between GD and Daesung again. Big Bang continued with their performances and CFs filming without Daesung, as if he was not that important to Big Bang.

    but to say it's a set-up, i can kind of see where people are coming from. first daesung got into an accident, so now bigbang are vulnerable with only 4. get rid of GD and now there's 3. big bang isn't big bang with only 3, or even 4; it has to be all of them.
