T.O.P to star with Kim Ha Neul in the Korean adaptation of Absolute Boyfriend

Newsen is reporting that the actors have been cast in the Korean drama adaptation of the Japanese manga, Absolute Boyfriend, that is scheduled to air next March. Mok Yun Hee (tvN Three Men, KBS Look Back With A Smile) has been named the writer while the director has not been confirmed as of yet. Currently MBC plans to air it. Shooting is scheduled to begin in December.

Korean idol T.O.P of boy band Big Bang may be cast as the male lead in an upcoming TV series but has yet to be confirmed for it, according to his agency on Tuesday.

"T.O.P is looking into the Korean adaptation of 'Absolute Boyfriend' in a positive light," an official with YG Entertainment told 10Asia over the phone, downplaying a report from earlier in the day that said he was set for the show.

The official added that the agency will make an announcement when a final decision is made while actress Kim Ha-neul is also in talks to play the drama's female lead opposite T.O.P.

"Absolute Boyfriend," based on the popular Japanese comic of the same name, tells the story of a woman who purchases a robot boyfriend that has the characteristics that she wants.

It has already been made into a series in Japan and adapted for a Taiwanese remake which currently stars actress Ku Hye-sun and Taiwanese idol group Fahrenheit member Jiro Wang.

    hmmm so he would play the robot "boyfriend"? i would like to see that, the charecter is funny (im halfway through the manga) and cute so it would be a change for tabi, but part me also thinks they might try to get him to play the other male lead (which is more cold).

    Sorry guys, but I read the original manga… T.O.P doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would jump into this show, especially not as the main lead/robot boyfriend Night… but I could be wrong. There are technically TWO male leads, the first being the robot character Night (who's first scene in the original is falling out of a cardboard box, completely naked) and the second lead, Soshi, the nerdy, long-time friend with glasses of the main female character. I honestly wouldn't get your hopes up… he seems more like the second lead character to me (don't worry though! Soshi had a few shirtless scenes in the manga!). Then again, Im a long time VIP and would kill to see what T.O.P is hiding, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for him to be the robot too haha. I just thought I'd let everyone know he could be cast, just not in that part. :)

    I just read this news n0w and OMG!!!!!.....im a fan of that japanese comic "Absolute Boyfriend" and I really want it...And n0w that T.O.P is also one of my fave korean idol.....who's gonna play the main lead role....Im sure to watch it......
