Prosecutor in-charge of G-Dragon's case interviewed [NEWS]

After G-Dragon‘s marijuana investigation came to light, many netizens immediately commented on how the idol must’ve shaved off his hair to avoid getting caught. The investigation required both a urine and hair sample.

To refute these accusations, a chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office named Kim Hwe Jong stepped forward to say:

“G-Dragon and the shaving of his head during the marijuana investigation have no relation to one another.

The truth is that Kwon Ji Yong‘s [G-Dragon's] marijuana examination took place in the middle of June, not in July. We didn’t even know that Kwon Ji Yong shaved his head in August; by then, it was a closed case. Therefore, you can’t say that he shaved his head in order to avoid further testing. Since it is a closed case, there are no plans to hand out a probation or to hold further investigations.“

The reporter then asked about G-Dragon’s behavior and confession during the investigation. (G-Dragon had confessed to smoking marijuana in a club while he was visiting Japan for a performance in mid-May.) Chief Prosecutor Kim said:

”Kwon Ji Yong appeared to be regretful. There were no difficulties when we were trying to hear his confession. He told the truth, as the positive results had already been released. He also expressed his will to never smoke marijuana.”

G-Dragon did not receive a suspension or indictment for his charges. Many netizens expressed whether this was too light a judgment, considering his offense. Chief prosecutor Kim explained:

“It’s not like that in any way. This type of case is one that would normally not carry a suspension. He is a college student, and it’s his first offense. Also, the investigation’s results only detected a very small amount. The fact that he was a college student weighed most heavily. College students and grown adults are [judged] differently, because it may have a larger impact on their future.“

And why was this revealed so late? Kim replied:

”Since Kwon Ji Yong is a public figure, the case could not be easily stated. The case was revealed, it seems, because rumors were going around about it.”

    Please don't feel disappointed. From what we know as soon as he Definately realised what it was he did the right thing and got rid of it.  He is aware of his position and influence as an idol and rolemodel.
    People are mainly focusing that he smoked it rather than after realising his mistake he took steps to make it right and has been completely honest and regretful.  Don't worry to much, lately I have seen more people feeling the jokes have gone far enough and are rallying to support him (at least international ones are) and their not all VIPs. Think of it as a young man learning a tough lesson.

    We have to remember too that GD will always be a target for one thing or another.  Also, by the nature of the business he's in, he's exposed to people who smoke, I really doubt YG does drug tests on all the colab's they let GD work with, and if the amount was so small that it only showed up in his hair in trace amounts .. was it second hand smoke?  What I don't quite understand is how the "bust" came about. How did the police have sufficient cause to approach him? The articles I've seen so far don't really say, only that he was investigated.  If it just based on an accusation, that's pretty lame.  I bet half the people who go clubbing consistently have traces of something in their hair. I personally chose to believe GD didn't make a mistake and hope things get back on track quickly.

    This is seriously disappointing. It took months for this to be Release because it wasn't serious enough and he was never charge with anything. If this is the case, why is it being release now to the public? Somethings up. Someones corrupted and I seriously hope YG gets to the bottom of this and find who the corrupt person is. One things for sure what GD has done does not amount to half of what these other celeberties are on. I guess being an idol means your not entittle to be human and make mistakes. Lmao at that. I rather GD be respected as an artist world wide then stuck in korea as an idol who is condem if Korea feels that he has wronged them. Smdh!!! Korea needs to stop being all high and mighty when bigbang is one of the reasons they make money of tourist.

    You have read everything right? In the interview with the Prosectuer GD expressed that he did not want or or would smoke marijuana. He realised his mistake, confessed and more importantly at the time of the incident threw the thing away. I am upset about the situation and that it even happened but I am proud of him for handling like a grown up. 
    You can be disappointed in him, that is your opinion and feeling but he is not a marijuana smoker and should not be lumped with them.  If you're disappointed just think of how his family is reacting to this, how the rest of BigBang and his close friends in the industry. Knowing Gd's character he's possibly beating hismelf up that now this is public he has let a lot of people down because of the public reaction.

    serioulsly, I dont know what I should believe in. maybe thats just a small case and its to distroy GDs comeback and make him bad in public but common, why was there even an investigation, the whole story seems so unreal for me, and who does say that YG isnt lying about GD who did not know what he was smoking, everybody talks like they know GD but in the end non of us knows him for real and his true character, maybe he did it and he was aware of it, maybe not.somehow its just dissapointing, he knows who he is and stil he is not careful enough about his actions in public, I know I have no right to say what he has to do and I know its really hard for celebrities but I just dont like drugs and all this stuff, u dont need it and I am not supporting something like this.
    dont get me wrong, I love GD and BB but thats really making me upset, that there even is this topic to discuss about. still I will hope that everything will be fine.

    I believe him because had he done it willing it he would have taken a lot more and the test would have shown a stronger positive result. The evidence matches the explanation. The take home message is GD is smart and cares about his career and the career of his friends he won't touch illegal substances again and be more causious. I think everything will be fine this is old news and most importantly all his ensorsers seem compassionate to the situation and that is a good sign.

    actually, now just to get a job you have to take a drug test. My teacher, AVID teacher, told me that before you can get any kind of job, you get a drug test. And since he IS a celebrity, and celebrities have a bad reputation, they are also more likely to receive one as well. Oh, and with GD's fame? LOL, why wouldn't they?

    I hope he's okay now. He must be so stressed right now. :(

    they say they didnt let the public now sooner because he was a public figure and it was a small case. i say, why do they need to let the public know in the first place? if the argument is that he is a public figure and the public has the right to know then shouldnt they have reported this while the investigation was unfolding?
    i'm not into conspiracy theories but it's hard not to suspect politics and power play when the whole thing reeks of it.

    Hair test can test the person drug use for up to 3months. I think I believe what gd says. If he was a habitual mj smoker the amount will be reflected in his hair test. Sigh thinks he really have to think twice not to just accept things from people especially in a club... Next time he may be just drug out & kidnap.

    Thank you for sharing this, I believe I had heard something similar a while back when someone made big scandalous news.  Seems like it is a common practice not only in Korea but other places as well. The US has done that sort of thing many times too.  So messed up.

    I just don't understand why it was made public in the first place unless someone wanted to ruin GD & YG.  The prosecutor even says it wasn't release till now, since it was so minor and no charges were pressed...so why release it at all.

    I feel your pain. I'm not even reading allkpop anymore. The comments below the article are just ridicioulus..People only read the title and think they know it alll..and when people try to tell them something they don't listen just because we are VIPS. Isn't it funny that even though vips are supposed to be biased we always know and accept the real truth? It's the antis and netizens that don't.     Yeah, I remember seeing it earlier...since it wasn't a conviction/a sentence of any kind (you know...basically dismissed) that Bean Pole would continue like normal and cancel nothing....only that North Face is putting things back and cancelled today's shoot, but that should be okay soon enough.

    I hope they don't put off the GD and TOP Japanese premiere for to long, if at all....I am SOOOO EXCITED for it!

    we can blame this late explosive news ( and false alarm inducing, not to mention) to how late netizens spazz to news and how they make a rather small case out of proportion. Poor prosecutor was baffled why it was made big when they didn't even publicized it...

    Honestly now that this has all come out I'm actually hoping in the future YG will learn from this and publicly release "scandals/news" like this himself because at least it would be done on their terms instead of it being leaked/revealed publicly by random media outlets, then spreading like wild fire with random gossip added into the story etc. 

    It's pretty clear cut GD did something stupid and it was a one time thing as pointed out by the prosecutor. GD has/is learning from this experience as any young male or female would from what has happened. This one incident doesn't reflect GD as a whole person and shouldn't be used against him either.  

    Key word here is "unintentional" - clearly he didn't mean for this to happen.

    It's just a small case...didn't do it consistently...only hair test positive....first offense and it was unintentional....

    ARGH! I hate how big a deal this is being made....all that being said, PLUS that he didn't even have enough when tested to be proved positive. I swear....sometimes I think they are doing this just to bring down GD and BB because they were getting to be to big or something....
