Official YGE Statement regarding G-Dragon's marijuana case [NEWS]

"First and foremost we would like to like to sincerely apologize to all the Big Bang fans and the public that loves Big Bang’s music for this unfortunate incident.

We will tell you what has occurred without any 'adjustments' in the story.

Last July, G-Dragon received investigation by the prosecutor’s office due to suspicion of smoking marijuana.

G-Dragon confidently accepted the investigation because he had not smoked marijuana and went through with his schedule as usual. However, when he heard the news that his hair drug test came out as positive, he was shocked because he had not smoked marijuana before.

While trying to find the reason how such a result would occur, he remembered a memory from his Japanese tour in May. He was at a party with several Japanese representatives that visited his concert. During the party, a Japanese individual that is believed to be a fan greeted G-Dragon and offered him a cigarette. Out of goodwill, G-Dragon accepted the cigarette. After taking two puffs he realized that it was different from normal cigarettes and threw the cigarette into the toilet.

G-Dragon probably forgot that incident because he did not consider it significant. However, when he was trying to find the reason for why his test came out positive, his memory came back, and confessed to the prosecutor’s office during the investigation.

The prosecutor’s office decided not to indict G-Dragon for two reasons. The first reason was because his test result was a weak positive, and the second was that G-Dragon had not deliberately smoked marijuana.

Although, there weren’t any other legal penalties for this incident, we believe that the guilt and responsibility that G-Dragon and YG Entertainment has to bear is heavier than any legal penalty.

G-Dragon and YG Entertainment feels sincere remorse because we were not more careful. Once again we apologize to you all for this incident and we will try our best so that something like this does not happen ever again."

    If GD smoked marijuana a lot and was addicted to it then for sure his hair test results would've shown enormous amounts of the drug. This is why I believe in GD and in YG. The prosecutor and the investigators aren't ignorant. If after the drug test they still found it doubtful then for sure they would've done an even deeper investigation... but what did they do? They suspended GD's indictment, right? They just issued a warning.

    GD did admit to having puffed the stick a few times and the drug test and his statement coincide with each other. This is what I'll choose to believe. I'll take anything evidence-based over opinions anytime. :)

    Well in the Netherlands (where i am from) marijuana is legal. Not that i smoke, but I don't get what's wrong with smoking it time to time. But that is just my point of view.

    oh so you hate the police? he may have already been tagged or being investigated without him (GD) knowing it. thats how most criminal, syndicates, gangs, dealers and users are being caught...it just happened that he is a SUPER STAR so thats BIGBANG NEWS for everyone. if an ordinary Joe Watchamakolitz get caught will you still blame the police for staining his unpopular name?     Hmmm anybody else think what happened is kinda fishy? I mean why would he be investigated a few weeks if not a few days after he smoked the alleged cigarette? I don't know this is just my opinion but think about it? I don't think Ji smokes marijuana regularly since his urine test came out negative...but to be investigated of smoking marijuana after a stranger gave you a suspecious cigarette is just hmmmmmm...

    I think this is a lesson for all the celebs out there... Didn't our parents always tell us not to take anything from stranger?? I think it still applies even when your already grown up especially if you're a celeb... Fighting g dragon!!!

    but i totally find the whole thing so ridiculous to begin with that i almost wished that GD would come out all defiant with a statement saying," i did smoke marijuana because i was curious. i have been having a composer's block and had heard that marijuana could help getting the creative juice flowing. and besides, someone dared me to do it." 

    at least then the issue would actually have some basis for controversy and worth talking about. and how hot would rebellious GD be?

    I was so shocked when I first read the article.  It never occurred to me that Jiyong would do such a thing knowing his character.  Anyway, regardless of what they say, I still believe that Jiyong is a good person - he would never jeopardize his future and more so his company and his Big Bang members.  If ever he made this mistake, nobody's perfect anyway and I'm already sure he learned his lesson well now.

    I'm also pondering why people keep saying that this year is 'unlucky' for Big Bang because of those incidents - Daesung and now G-Dragon.  I guess when you're on top people will try to shake you up to bring you down - in this case G-Dragon.  How can something that happen 3 months ago be brought to everyone's attention just now?

    Anyway, what done is done.  All I can say, a mistake like this doesn't mean a person is bad.  I'm sure GD is feeling sorry and will try to make up for this incident by bringing better music!  

    I love all of Big Bang - music and members.  This would not make me think of them less - instead I would love and support them more.  They're the reason I love Kpop - to me they're the most talented and brilliant among the lot.  Seriously, do you know anyone that is of the same calibre as them?  No one else can come close!

    So again fellow VIPs, let's us unite and support our boys.  Let's pray for them and wish them luck, peace and blessings!  Let's turn the tide from being 'unlucky' to MORE SUCCESS!

    P.S.  I still want to bash those antis who keep saying that Big Bang is on the verge of collapse.

    And believe it or not people do offer other people smokes in bathrooms (not necessary marijuana) Gd polite or otherwise should probably have not accepted it or tried it if he suspected foul play. It was his call on that. But from the trace amounts found and it only happened once correlates well with the story, or at least after trying he did not continue. If he was buying it himself he would probably have done more.
    It's not blaming fans, it's recalling a possible cause, he may even have known the preson and he doesn't want to get them into trouble.
    So far nothing GD has said has contradicted the evidence and he's not so spoilt that he would purpsurely soil the image of BigBang for his own enjoyment. He is taking responsibility and is taking the ramifications when he could have lied and tried to get away with any involvement.  It takes a bigger man to admit mistakes and considering the response and messages he's been getting I think it takes an even bigger man in Asian society to tell the truth about something like this.
    GD's image is far from clean anyway and after this article I am more reassured that he's not a substance abuser.  
    As a fan of him and their music I feel he is worth waiting for regardless of my opinions about this.

    this situation is so blown out of proportion. even though weed is a drug, i'm glad that's the only thing GD has done. A hair drug test is the worst drug test anyone can take because it tells your life story. It tells you EVERYTHING you've done, regardless when and how little you've done. 

    And it's ridiculous how Koreans are so unforgiving. 

    How hypocritical. I guarantee, no matter how innocent everyone seems there, they're all fucking crazy.

    no its an American fan, oh maybe an Afgan fan who gave him the pot...GD is not a fool? good will? unfairly judge? website blaming politics? so many craps blinded fans say just to keep their idol's image clean...like it or not GD still have his moments of foolishness coz he ain't perfect he is still HUMAN. now the only thing we can do as a thinking fan is to buy their music (this will keep BIGBANG happy esp. the record companies), hope that they learn for this, and pray that GD will buy his own pack of cigarette next time ^^.

    You know in the Netherlands drugs is allowed so I do now the smell of it. And I could imagine that he didn't know especially when you never see or smell it. Drugs smells totally different from smoke. (It smells sweet sour and strong) absolutely not in the way smoke smells. (In my village you have a coffee shop street and I always smell it when passing that street) (I don't smell that when passing a café where you can smoke cigarets)

    Or in a disco there are people whom are using it. And I only need to be a few meters away and I know it's marijuana. Even in a disco full with cigarets and only one with marijuana.

    And I do think he did it only once. You can see when someone is using it. They get really big eyes and it looks like there aren't any wrinkles left on there head. And I didn't see it in one of his recent pictures or vids.

    Ohhhhh. Now it's all starting to make sense. I knew there was a convincing explanation. It's a shame I just didn't think of it first. To be honest, after this article, I wouldn't be surprised if GD walked away scott-free. It CLEARLY wasn't his fault, and he flushed down the remnants of the "mysteriously smelling" (lol) cigar. He's obviously not psychic, so he didn't have the "6th sense" advantage. But given what senses he did have to work with, he did good.
    Case closed.
    The moral of the story: A scandal CAN end you. Don't be crazy.
    Now let's all get along. Ok?

    LOL. And to think I was SO ready to serve up G Dragon's head on the proverbial silver platter in favor of TOP. At least I know where my loyalties lie. Hahaha.

    Of course something is fishy or someone acted shady. Most likely a rival escalated this, or at least ignorance had it's part to play in all this mayhem and foolishness. Still, you have to be thick skinned and be "quick" of mind if you hope to last as a celebrity/celeb manager of any sort. People WILL end you, if you are not careful. *Shaking my head*. Hope GD was not starting to have a panic attack about all this. I bet SeungRi outing BB members on talk shows doesn't seem so bad to them now. :).

    yeah thats a good point there but he wont be tested if nobody blew the whistle...he got caught or suspected its not a random test. if it is a random test it will be violating his human rights so that one is official. the amount recovered doesn't matter since companies will go spending lots of money to cover up the mess so its not that important plus media is not alway the absolute truth. maybe he (the fan) works inside the event.  

    lets just hope that this small incident will serve as a lesson to GDragon making him wiser and creating even more great music like BIGBANG always have.

    I believe it's a valid reason? But if its just 2-3 puffs, I don't think it could have stayed in his body for over 2 months right? Maybe thats why the result only showed miniscule amount of marijuana? Perhaps I'm bias, but I don't think Jiyong would want to risk everything up.

    I kinda believe what YG says on this (even though many don't). If what stated above is true, then everything happened is just a mere accident isn't it? I mean, it's not like GD is addicted to marijuana, he accepted the cig from that fan (which i think is an anti-fan) out of courtesy (maybe GD's drunk at that time?) but he flushed it down the toilet upon realizing it's not normal cigarette. At least GD is honest and did admit that he smoked some...

    Now, come to think of it, it isn't a big deal after all especially after seeing YG's statement (that is, if you believe what is told by YG).

    nope i love bigbang but i dont like it when record companies make a big fuzz out of everything. he is still human capable of making mistakes like most us (normal people/fans). i mean why blame somebody else for their stupidity. plus the fact that they blame it on a random japanese fan makes me even more suspicious if GD is really involved or just a victim...the story of the event in japan is kinda fishy too. he never smoked marijuana but tested positive ...BIGBANG i still love your music!

    Traces of marijuana can stay for months in the hair follicle no matter 100 puffs of 1 puff.

    The thing is the amount found in GD's hair follicle wasn't enough to make it a positive drug test.

    Which is why GD was only given a warning and not acquited.

    This totally makes sense. This corresponds to what GD said with investigators, and also the search results (that it only happened once, and the amount was minuscule). I am just so sorry that GD accepted it out of curtesy... but what would you do when a fan (in a party where they celebrated bb's success in Japan with a buch of important people in the industry) kindly offers a cigarette? He just wanted to be nice (which is totally reasonable given the circumstances).....

    It's either, YG is making things up like "G-Dragon took two or three puffs, but upon feeling that it was different from normal cigarettes, he flushed it down the toilet right away" or simply, that the previous reports purposely opted to skip that information out. In the first few articles, it wasn't mentioned that he flushed it in the toilet, it simply said that he knew it was somehow different from regular cigarettes but still accepted and smoked it. Based on my experience with Korean media, some reports depend on the type of relationship the reporter has with the subject of the report. they can make you look bad if they don't like you or create a god out of you when you have a "good" relationship with them. So, I would like to believe that previous reports wanted to make GD look bad that is why it's too sensationalized and incomplete.

    Honestly, if it was a weak result and they weren't going to charge him with anything or if they felt it wasn't significant. THEY shouldn't have announced this in the public at all. South Korea can not handle news about celebrities + drugs. It's been always looked down upon and it'll only lead to chaos. I know no matter how true this statement may be... there is a huge chance many people will still not believe GD's side of the story because of GD's image and even though some people may still believe his story.. they still won't accept it just because its a drug. It makes me sad, but I still like him and I think times like this when there's a huge conflict in his career and fandom.. its when his true fans should be there to support him. It's not to say i wasn't disappointed in him because I think it's his fault on his part for even accepting anything from a stranger at a club. It can be poison for all i know.     so.. i already posted this as a reply to another fan... but i hope as many ppl as possible will read this...
    and before ppl start thinking im a blind rabid fan who don't believe celebrities can do any wrong... u guys r wrong.. celebrities/singers/actors/fans= human. we should look at their qualities n flaws as we would our own.. 

    urine tests test out the recent occurences that happen within a week. hair tests can test back to 3 (?) months? because it would take that long for substances to completely leave your body (hair being the farthest "body part" from your body) get it? so it is possible.

    lately, I was really disappointed when i saw some videos in youtube about GD and TOp's smoking clips.. since I never knew they smoke.. til now, I came from school and opened this, I was greatly surprised to see an article of this..

    I don't know if i had to believe this article this time but if GD did smoked MJ, I AM STILL A HUGE FAN OF BIGBANG AND GD regardless of this issues.

    Being a fan does not mean we have to accept everything they say.Does that mean we shouldn't have brains to think for ourselves? I'm still a fan, but I don't blindly accept everything dished out to us.that's what our brains are for, to evaluate and have a mind of our own. It's our own prerogative whether we choose to believe them or not.eventually, we will still support them and the music they make, but that does not necessarily mean we have to condone everything they do. We don't even know them personally!

    OKAY, puffing marijuana isn't good. That might be the point there. People are having mixed emotions. He underwent an investigation and found a MINUSCULE amount of marijuana. 

    Almost-three-month-old case. It was in July, it's now October. WHY? WHY THOUGH?!

    While we were contemplating what the reason could be, we thought of the event that occurred in May during their Japan tour. There was a drinking event to celebrate a successful concert with various Japanese associates who visited us at the concert location. When G-Dragon went to use the restroom, a young person who seemed to be a Japanese FAN recognized G-Dragon and offered him a cigarette as he greeted him. Out of courtesy, G-Dragon took two or three puffs, but upon feeling that it was different from normal cigarettes, he flushed it down the toilet right away.

    ok its not a direct blame to this turd fan but its there Duh... its weird fans like to give small trinkets to their idols but why give a cigarette?

    I believe him (Jiyong). And what ever happens my respect with Jiyong still the same. People tends to makes mistakes and who are we to judge him. Jiyong is still at the stage of learning things around him. So I hope he will stay strong despite of all the things and others say against him.
