A National Forensic Service Officer interviewed regarding hair testing for marijuana [NEWS/SUBBED]

In an article posted previously, people were saying that it's strange how G-Dragon's marijuana test came out positive when he's reported to have only taken a couple of puffs. (Implying that he's a regular user)

On MBC's Good Day show, they interviewed an officer from the National Forensic Service and asked some questions regarding hair testing for marijuana. Here's how the interview went:

Q: Is it possible to get a positive result from smoking a couple of puffs of marijuana?
Officer: It's difficult to say because only a trace amount of marijuana remains on the hair. It's hard to say if it will show after smoking once or not.

Q: Does this mean that a trace (amount) can be found even after only smoking just once?
Officer: It's possible depending on the situation. There is no specific period on how long the components remain on the hair. For hair that is 3cm long, the trace can remain up to 3 months as long as it's not cut off.

In the article posted previously, the former director of the Korean Police Narcotics Bureau said that it's rare to get a positive hair test result after smoking only a couple of puffs. According to this most recent interview, it is possible.

    Am I the only one that is happy this second interview sounds like it is contradicting former director of the Korean Police Narcotics Bureau thus this is positive news supporting GD's innocence  "It's possible depending on the situation." I wouldn't like the last words saying about the case being that man trying to increase doubt to GD's story. This is now telling tilting the opinion in favor of GD (Yay). As a westerner this is probably tiresome that their dragging it out when it was months ago and Jiyong did so many lovely things since the incident, but if it's helping public opinion of him then it's better news.

    This is great .. the first response was tabloid like in its distribution of bad information and attempt to blow things out of proportion.  Props to MBC's Good Morning for throwing some truth into the mix.

    GD is not a regular drug user.

    Marijuana can stay up to 90 days in your hair even if it was a few puffs.

    A hair drug test can show you the history of the usage of drugs and the amount used. 

    GD's hair drug test results showed that the traces of marijuana were MINISCULE and BELOW THE PUNISHABLE LEVEL.

    His drug test results coincide with the statement he gave to the cops. It also proves that he is NOT A REGULAR DRUG USER.

    Yeah thats a point but Annoying as it is that it keeps being brought up it's good proper facts are coming out. this interview is more along the lines of what reserach has proven about Marijuana and gives GD's story more credibility. It tells people two important things 1) Marijuana can be detected in the hair for any measure of time especially if it is long - they show GD's longer hair. 2) The cigarrettes likely used are difficult to tell the difference from a normal cigarrette. The second point is most important, informing people to be wary just becuase it looks normal doesn't necessarily mean it is.

    Poor guy, people judge him, but in fact everyone does things "undue". He is famous, is for that people criticize him constantly. People always have something to criticize. Furthermore, suppose that actually him knew it was marijuana and wanted to smoke marijuana, did not ask why him do it? everyone think  because he is a singer does not have personal problems, poor guy! And if he had not personal problems, he just wanted to smoke ... as long as him do not become addicted is all right (obviously for their sake, not for what people are saying)

    Wow this story just won't die.  Makes me wonder who is really keeping this alive and who's actually benefiting from GD not dropping his album this month.  Forget the conspiracy of the gambling politicians.  How about other record companies who have artists coming out with new material during the time GD is promoting.

    I was so scared to read this but after all this is a good news, this proves that Jiyong is telling the truth about about not knowing it was that cigarette and the fact of the hair test result.

    It isn't that rare. You can even get a positive result by second hand smoke.

    And besides, GD's drug test results which showed that the traces of marijuana in his hair follicle is miniscule and below the punishable level, proves that he isn't a habitual drug user.
