MTV EMA Worldwide Act Nominee Spotlight: Big Bang [NEWS]

This week, we’re spotlighting each of the five Worldwide Act nominees, and today it’s all about BIGBANG. The South Korean boy band beat out Agnes Monica, Exile, Gotye, Jane Zhang, Jay Chou, and Sia for the honour of being the first act to represent Asia Pacific in the race for the new Worldwide Act EMA.

As their moniker might suggest, BIGBANG make a splash, with their catchy hip-hop/dance pop and their suave fashion style—and after attaining megastardom in their home country, they’re starting to gain recognition internationally.

The five-piece group (Daesung, G-Dragon, Seungri, Taeyang, and T.O.P.) topped the charts in 2007 with their single “Lies” in Korea and won the Seoul Music Award for Artist of the Year—among other honours—that year. BIGBANG went on to amass fans in Japan and win awards there. They scored Best Pop Video and Best New Artist trophies at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2010.

After a hiatus when the group members focused on pursuing side and solo projects, they returned with a—wait for it—bang. Their 2011 release ‘Tonight’ was the first K-pop, or South Korean pop, album to hit the iTunes top 10.

You can vote for Worldwide Act and the other open MTV EMA categories through 4th November. The winners will be announced on 6th November at the 2011 MTV EMA in Belfast, airing on MTV at 9 PM CET (9 PM GMT in the U.K.).

HOW TO VOTE:

a) Website
b) Facebook
c) Mobile
d) Download MTV EMA App from iTunes

- There's a limit of 100 votes per day on the website and Facebook but you can just clear your browser's cookies so you can vote again. (For instructions, just google "how to delete cookies [your browser]")

- You can also just use a different browser if you exceed the limit. (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer, etc.)

- For Chrome and Firefox, you can either use incognito or private browsing mode. (For instructions, just google "private browsing [Chrome or Firefox]")

- For the web voting, some find refreshing (pressing F5) this page easier because there's less clicking action but for those who find refreshing slow, you can vote this way or this.

- Aside from deleting cookies after you reach the limit, you can also just vote using other country sites. Here's a list:

    wow. thanks for this. but i was hoping for a more in depth info on Bigbang, coz this is quite basically the same as the description in the voting page. but i appreciate it anyway,, thanks MTV EMA!

    Can any of u guys confirm the authenticity of a claim that fast-clicking vote button will not help us?? Coz there is claim that ONE THANK YOU message counts for ONLY ONE VOTE..Anyway, I think it's better for us to be safe n not fast-clicking d vote button like mad just bcoz we want to vote faster..

    Well it says that you've reached the max amount of votes when you've voted for 100 times (and you can't vote anymore, on that country that is lol), and I've gotten that message by using the fast-clicking method. And that would mean that the votes do count.

    Idk, once when my internet connection was damn slow, I fast-clicked d vote button like crazy n managed to reach d 100 votes limit in one go! If somehow it's real that the one thank you message counts for only one vote, than when I thought I've successfully contributed 10Ks-15Ks votes..in reality,d real vote count might be wayy lesser...that disappointed feeling is just..urrrghh!!T_T

    Where are you guys using the fast clicking method? I try but it always goes to "thank you for voting" after just one click. I can't do more than that.

    As a tech person, I THINK the fast-clicking votes because the script counts the "click" and not how many times the message is shown.

    Click really really fast. In my case, I get 2-3 clicks in before I get the "thank you for voting" message. Sometimes when my computer or internet is slow, I get to click 10 times..

    so, juz click one time, dun click many times before d thank you for voting appear...

    if u dun believe it, u can try the megafan event(tis event is not
    important for us,bigbang didnt take part in tis,it is juz a way for us
    to check is it our vote counted)

    u can try it... on the top right coner of the website, sign in ur
    twitter or fb account... n try to click as much as possible before thank
    you for voting appear... after u reach max... click the ur profile on
    top right corner to c the point u gt... u can gt 10 points for sign in,
    vote, n etc(go to megafan to c the way to get d point)...

    for me,after click it multiple times, i gt 100+ only after reach max(but actually i should gt 1000+ for 100 vote)...

    I'm kinda iffy about clicking continuosly. Mtv might think that you're using a fast clicker program and the votes may be disqualified.

    I think at this point it's better to be safe than sorry. Personally I'm voting 1 vote at a time until I reach the limit and then move on to another country site to vote again.

    okay.. so i tried out the fast-clicking vote and the thank you for voting came up.. but also was the little pic for the sponsor ( dell, replay, etc..) and when i clicked once, one pic appeared. when i fast-clicked, and five appeared.. so i'm guessing that i voted five times that time??... just wanted to tell you

    I'm pretty sure it works since BB won the first round of voting and the votes numbered in the millions. If fast clicking didn't work or the other ways to bypass the maximum then i'm sure the votes would be less

    I just really hope that Daesung's accident and GDragon's marijuana smoking will not affect them winning this award. People who know nothing of BB and decide to research will naturally come across those 2 incidents and it could affect their decision to vote for BB.
